The cut-to-black finale implies Tony's death, resolving the series' central tension about whether his lifestyle can ever be escaped. All major arcs — the war with Phil, Tony's therapy, and the family dynamic — reach their conclusions. The ambiguity is a deliberate statement by Chase, not unfinished plotting.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest TV series ever made, with richly developed characters and complete story arcs. The show ended on its own terms with a planned, deliberate finale rather than a cancellation. The unconventional ending is an intentional artistic choice, not an unresolved cliffhanger.
