Season 2 ends with the BTK killer thread still dangling as a setup for a third season that never came. Netflix put the show on indefinite hold and Fincher confirmed it was unlikely to return, so the narrative simply stops mid-story.

Despite critical acclaim and strong performances, the series was effectively cancelled after its second season. Major storylines are left unresolved, and it never receives a proper conclusion.
